Manhattan Beach
Polished but never pretentious. Manhattan Beach is known for its wide sandy beaches, the iconic pier, and some of the best beach volleyball in the world. The Strand runs right through it, packed with runners, cyclists, and dog walkers from early morning until sunset. Downtown has a clean, upscale energy with great restaurants and shops, while the Sand Section and Tree Section feel like classic California neighborhoods. Hermosa Beach
Smaller, livelier, and a little more free-spirited. Hermosa has that true beach-town pulse — the pier, Pier Avenue, volleyball courts that never empty, and a nightlife scene that still feels local. Redondo Beach
The largest of the Beach Cities and one of the most versatile. Redondo has the horseshoe pier, the harbor, Riviera Village, and neighborhoods that range from oceanfront to more residential. It's family-friendly, active, and full of places to eat, walk, and watch the boats come in. There's a classic Southern California feel here that never goes out of style.
Palos Verdes
The Peninsula stands a little apart — greener, quieter, and elevated in more ways than one. Rolling hills, ocean views, winding roads, and a slower pace define Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, and the surrounding communities. It's the place for scenic drives, hiking trails, and that feeling of being above it all while still connected to the coast.
Torrance
The workhorse of the South Bay. Torrance offers more space, strong neighborhoods, great schools, and easy access to the beach without the same price tag as the pure beach cities. It has its own identity — practical, diverse, and full of long-time residents who know every shortcut and every good taco spot. Torrance Beach gives it that coastal connection, while the rest of the city keeps daily life grounded.
